As China’s economy, science and technology, national defense, and living standards continue to rise, and as we mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, we are striding forward boldly on the path of scientific and technological advancement. Yet, we must never forget the heinous crimes committed by Japanese militarism in China 80 years ago—the “September 18 Incident”—and the indelible historical wounds inflicted upon us by Unit 731. It was through the sacrifice of lives that we safeguarded life itself, and it was with unwavering conviction that we kindled faith in others. In the crucible of war, the Chinese people, together with peoples around the world, forged deep bonds of mutual assistance and solidarity, earning the respect of people worldwide who uphold justice and cherish peace, and thereby reestablishing China’s status as a major global power. For this moment, the Chinese people endured 14 years of unyielding struggle, utterly defeating the vicious and brutal Japanese militarist aggressors, completely erasing the national humiliation of repeated defeats in resisting foreign aggression since modern times, and firmly defending the civilizational achievements of the Chinese nation’s over 5,000-year development.

“Every inch of our land is soaked with blood, and every handful of our sacred soil carries the soul of our ancestors.” All Chinese sons and daughters have jointly composed a magnificent epic that shakes heaven and moves spirits, marking a historic turning point in the Chinese nation’s journey from the deep crisis it faced since modern times toward great rejuvenation.
